We are also excited to share the news that we have been working directly with our funding organization, AMTI, to greatly expand the scope of the academic scholarship program this year. Within the next few weeks, we will launch the 2012-2013 scholarship cycle, which will include a new, separate set of awards for students studying at universities outside of the United States. This has been our dream since the inception of the Force and Motion Foundation, and our thanks go out to AMTI for creating the matching scholarships program for students using multi-axis force measurement and multi-axis testing machines outside of the US.
The excellence of the submissions made the judging process extremely difficult as there were many additional students who we would be equally proud to present as scholarship recipients. In the end, however, we could only award two of the deserving students with scholarships this year, and based on their quality, innovation, contribution, and advisor recommendations, this year’s winners are:
A. $10,000 Force and Motion Academic Scholarship
Student: Adam Foster
Institution: University of Arizona
Department: Anthropology
Research concept: Biomechanical study of the evolution of bipedalism using multi-axis force measurement
B. $10,000 Force and Motion Academic Scholarship
Student: John Martin
Institution: University of Pennsylvania
Department: Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics
Research concept: Study of the mechanical properties of tissue engineered disc replacements using multi-axial loading
On behalf of the Force and Motion Foundation and AMTI, we send our sincere thanks to the hundreds of students and faculty members that participated in this year’s scholarship program.
Please keep checking back with us as we are about to launch the next round of academic scholarships. We look forward to reading your submissions!
